The Japanese Tea Ceremony
Keiko Uchida is widely known for her Tea Ceremony Workshops, held at the Notting Hill store and at personal and special events around the world.
The Tea Ceremony is an all-encompassing art. Developed from Zen ritual in Japan, it is about much more than drinking a cup of Matcha tea. It offers an opportunity to explore the history and philosophy of the ceremony, the qualities of Matcha, and the traditional ways of making, serving and enjoying tea.
Keiko has been practising the Tea Ceremony for over 25 years, and was taught by Japanese masters before becoming a Tea Master herself. Her workshops offer everyone the chance to discover something meaningful and enjoyable within this ancient cultural practice.

About Keiko
Born in Tokyo, Keiko Uchida has been steeped in Japanese culture from an early age. Her mother is a renowned kimono specialist and her father developed traditional tea rooms. For decades she learned the Tea Ceremony with Japanese masters before becoming a Tea Master herself.
Keiko’s work is driven by a passion for the Art of Tea, travelling to Japan and working with tea farmers and tea merchants, potters and crafts people.
