The workshop lasts for two hours has two main parts:
1. A talk by Keiko about the history of green tea, and the philosophy and cultural background behind the Japanese Tea Ceremony, which can involve gardening, ceramics, textiles, architecture, calligraphy and food, as well as tea. (Around 40 minutes)
2. The demonstration, where Keiko prepares and serves a cup of matcha tea and some sweets to each guest. She teaches guests the traditional way of serving and drinking a cup of matcha tea in public, with traditional gestures and manners. Each visitor then has the chance to take on the role of host and guest, using traditional equipment. (Around 80 minutes)
During the session you will enjoy some sweets and at least two different kinds of matcha tea.
There will be a maximum of 7 people in this workshop.
We currently have dates for the next 3 months available. These are updated regularly. If you want to book a ticket for a date more than three months away, you can always buy a gift ticket, and select your date closer to the time.
Please note this workshop is non-refundable and cannot be rescheduled after purchase.
