Keiko Uchida presents THE GREAT INHERITANCE, an exhibition of new work by the renowned Mashiko potters Tomoo Hamada and Kan Matsuzaki. The show takes place in Keiko Uchida’s Notting Hill gallery at 120 Talbot Road, from Wednesday 30th September to Saturday 17th October.
Tomoo Hamada and Kan Matsuzaki will join Keiko Uchida in London for the launch of the exhibition. They will be taking part in a programme of events, offering the chance for collectors, guests and enthusiasts to meet the artists and share in conversations, gatherings and a talk show.
Tea Ceremony with the Artists – Wednesday 30th September
To mark the opening of The Great Inheritance, join the artists and experience the tradition of drinking matcha with Keiko Uchida, a qualified Tea Master with over 25 years of experience.
Each guest will choose a matcha bowl by either Tomoo Hamada or Kan Matsuzaki, from which their tea will be served. Seasonal wasanbon sweets will be served alongside the tea.

The Great Inheritance Talk Show – Thursday 1st October
Join Tomoo Hamada and Kan Matsuzaki in conversation with art historian Sandy Mallet as they discuss the exhibition and their own work, its inspirations and ways of making. Of particular interest will be the artists’ roles as sons and grandson of well known potters and how these relationships have influenced their work and careers.

Meet the Artists – Friday 2nd October
Join artists Tomoo Hamada and Kan Matsuzaki for an informal afternoon as part of The Great Inheritance exhibition.
The artists will be at the gallery throughout the afternoon, offering an opportunity to talk with them about their work and working methods, and to ask questions about the exhibition.
Visitors are welcome to join us at any point during the afternoon and stay for as long as they wish.

Morning Tea with the Artists – Saturday 3rd October
Join artists Tomoo Hamada and Kan Matsuzaki for a private view of The Great Inheritance before the gallery opens.
Enjoy an informal cup of hot or cold tea while meeting the artists and spending time with their work.
