Mingei Handcrafted Tall Cup

Fujiya Sakuma (b. 1963)
The award-winning potter Sakuma has been the head of the Mashiko Porcelain Association since 2005. His grandfather, Totaro Sakuma (1900-1976), worked with the world-famous potter Shoji Hamada to develop the Mingei (‘People’s Art’) movement in Mashiko. Sakuma has become famous for his particular Mingei style and elegant colour palette.

This exquisite large cup, handcrafted by Sakuma Fujiya in Mashiko, embodies the spirit of Mingei—the Japanese folk craft movement that finds beauty in everyday use.
