A vintage lacquered natsume tea caddy used in the Japanese tea ceremony. This striking red natsume features a Narcissus emblem on the body, a black lacquered interior, and gold-lined edging. The lid is adorned with beautiful emblems of chrysanthemum and cherry blossom.
Traditionally, natsume are used to store matcha for usucha (thin tea) during the tea ceremony. As they are not airtight, matcha is usually transferred from a tin or bag and sieved into the natsume just before the ceremony. This piece is ideal for a student of the tea ceremony or anyone who regularly enjoys matcha.
Care instructions: Gently wipe with a soft cloth after use.
Approximate dimensions: H 6.5 cm × W 6.5 cm
