Artist: Tomoo Hamada

Born in 1967 in Mashiko, Japan, Tomoo Hamada is a celebrated contemporary ceramic artist who continues the esteemed pottery lineage of the Hamada family. As the grandson of Shoji Hamada, a National Living Treasure and pioneer of the mingei (folk craft) movement, Tomoo grew up immersed in the rich traditions of Mashiko pottery. His work bridges the gap between heritage and modernity, creating pieces that honor the past while embracing contemporary aesthetics.

Reflecting the mingei philosophy of functional beauty, this piece embodies the artistry for which Mashiko ceramics are renowned. To care for the bowl, gently clean with a soft cloth, avoid abrasive cleaners, and store in a dry place to preserve its intricate finish.

This black sleek bowl encapsulates the elegant sheen of the Japanese traditional chawan tea bowl. Ideal for those who love to lose themselves in the opaque quality of fine craftmanship.
