The hishaku water ladle plays an important part in the tea ceremony.
This Sashi Toshi hishaku represents a specialised style distinguished by its construction. Unlike standard ladles, the Sashi Toshi form features a distinctive method of joining the handle to the ladle cup, creating a refined balance and elegant line. This construction influences the angle and control of the pour, which is particularly valued by experienced practitioners.
Carved from a single piece of bamboo for the cup and paired with a carefully fitted handle, the ladle demonstrates the subtle craftsmanship typical of traditional tea utensils. Its length allows the host to reach gracefully across the kettle while maintaining correct posture and movement within the tea ceremony. Its connection point makes the ladle more durable and used for elegant and more sophisticated ceremonies.

As each hishaku is handcrafted from bamboo, they each differ slightly.

Customs & Import Charges
For EU orders under €150 (excluding shipping), VAT is collected at checkout. Orders over €150 may be subject to additional customs charges on arrival.
