Kei Shimaoka is a Japanese ceramic artist based in Mashiko, Tochigi Prefecture. He is the grandson of renowned ceramic artist Tatsuzō Shimaoka. After graduating from the Tochigi Prefectural Ceramics Industrial Technology Centre in 1997, he trained under his grandfather for six years, learning the Jōmon zōgan inlay technique. Since succeeding to Shimaoka Pottery in 2007, he has continued the family tradition while developing his own ceramic forms, patterns, and glazes.
