On Monday, 22nd September 2025, listeners of BBC Radio 4’s flagship current affairs programme The World at One were invited to enjoy an insightful segment as Keiko Uchida, our resident and esteemed tea ceremony master with 25 years of experience discussed the rich world of traditional matcha.
Invited by Sarah Montague, the conversation delved into what truly defines traditional matcha and how it started 400 years ago and evolved into white chocolate oat latte drinks. It was a lovely discussion featured and aired discussing why matcha has become so popular.
Keiko Uchida artfully made a bestseller Single Origin Gekkou matcha for Sarah Montague to try live and review. Montague described it as "lighter" and "earthy" more than commonly consumed matcha in cafes.
