It will be Mother’s Day this Sunday 30th March in the UK. And to celebrate, we have a wonderful variety of elegant ideas that would make ideal presents for your mother!
Japanese Tea Ceremony Workshops
Gift tickets for our Japanese tea ceremony workshops are one our all-time best sellers. It is always an extra special way of giving a gift to someone, and something you can share with them, especially if your mother is enthusiastic about Japanese culture or simply a tea lover. We have had many parents and children participate, as a Mother’s Day gift, as well as birthday and other presents. There have been so many memorable experiences. We will send a Gift ticket to you by email, so it is great as a last minute present!
The Japanese kyusu tea pot is the best for brewing loose tea. These come in a variety of designs and prices. Some have matching cups, some being hand-thrown, and some with very elegant patterns. We are able to offer a variety of kyusu from different regions in Japan, each region having a different character as the clay is quite different. Tokoname is one of the famous regions for kyusu tea pots, as Tokoname’s clay absorbs tannin particularly well, which means that tea made in Tokoname tea pot can have a milder, less bitter taste. Tea pots from the Yoshida and Arita regions are known for having wonderful patterns, which can be very uplifting! Whichever tea pot you choose, the right tea ware can change the taste of tea enormously, and be a wonderful addition to your – or your mother’s - life. If you want to see it in person, you can visit our Pop- up store in Ladbroke Grove.
Many Japanese families use tea caddies to keep loose tea in, not only as a practical object but as something very beautiful too. Have a look at our selection, I am sure your mother would love one of these beautiful caddies, as well as the taste of the very best green tea!
We have been keen to import specialist books from Japan about Japanese culture, about tea and the tea ceremony, and about pottery and crafts, both in Japanese and in English. In fact we have now started to work with a specialist tea ceremony publisher, Tankosha in Japan, which produces wonderful high quality books with the most beautiful photographs of the tea ceremony. They are well worth looking at, and would make a very special present.
Japan is world famous for its Furoshiki gift wrapping. So naturally, we are also providing a furoshiki-style gift wrapping service for our customers over here. Furoshiki is a new and popular re-usable gift-wrapping cloth. Unlike with some traditions, we do not throw away large amounts of wrapping paper when we use this furoshiki style cloth!
Our Pop-up store will be opened on Saturday 29th March. So, you still have some time!
