Welcome to the Art of Tea!
Your Personal Guide To The Art of Tea / Premium Japanese Tea Merchant
Born in Tokyo, Keiko Uchida has been steeped in traditional Japanese culture from an early age - her mother is a renowned Kimono specialist, and her father developed traditional tea rooms. For over two decades she practiced the Tea Ceremony with Masters in Tokyo, Kyoto and London.
Now, as a Tea Master herself, and living in London, Keiko’s vision is to introduce the art of tea to audiences and communities around the world, bringing the blessings of Japanese tea, and the fascinations of the Japanese Tea Ceremony, to as many people as possible.
Since opening her Tea Studio in 2015, and creating her Tea Ceremony Workshops, she has been able to share the traditional aspects of the Ceremony, and her love of Matcha, with a vast range of clients and audiences - from school children to the Governor of Tokyo, and from rock stars to world leaders with the UN.
Having practiced the Japanese tea ceremony for over 25 years, tea master Keiko Uchida is keen to introduce this art, and share her passion, with a new audience. Since opening her tea studio in West London, Keiko has shared the tea ceremony, and her love of matcha, with everyone who wishes to learn - from school children to the Governor of Tokyo. Here you will find out more about the art of tea, and find Keiko's online shop, where she has carefully curated her favourite matcha, tea, tea ware, and other Japanese lifestyle goods.
The Tea Ceremony Workshops – Immerse Yourself in Tradition
Keiko Uchida has become widely known for her Tea Ceremony Workshops, allowing you to take part in this elegant tradition, either as one of a small group in her West London studio, or as a special event (from private parties to large corporate occasions). As a Tea Master, and with over 25 years’ experience practicing the Tea Ceremony, Keiko is an exemplary and entertaining guide to this beautiful world.
The Tea Ceremony can offer wonderful benefits, and can be the focus for meditation and health, as well as profound cultural interests, and has proved rewarding for groups examining motivational ideas.
Having been developed from Zen ritual in the 15th century, the Tea Ceremony was transformed in the following century by the great tea master Sen no Rikyu, who set out a highly codified art practice. Since that time the Tea Ceremony has maintained these practices, and has evolved ideas of meditation and spiritual health.
Joining one of Keiko’s Tea Ceremony Workshops, you will be able to learn all about the history and philosophy of the Japanese Tea Ceremony, as well as finding out about the different qualities of Matcha tea, and about how to make, serve and drink a cup of Matcha tea in the traditional manner.
Experiencing Authentic Japanese Tea in the UK
Those who relish true excellence in life will know the importance of going the extra mile. Keiko’s own approach to finding the finest teas has taken her on fabulous journeys and brought her remarkable rewards.
When very small she served cups of green tea to her family and guests, learning about not rushing, and about fine materials. She has continued exploring these wisdoms, valuing taking a few minutes when serving the best loose leaf tea (which can taste much better than tea bag tea and is not complicated to brew). Making tea in this way, using a Kyusu teapot and Yunomi teacup, also has great therapeutic benefits.
