The Penguin Book of Japanese Verse

A collection of Japanese poems and haiku from as early as the 3^rd Century, to the modern period. Compiled by Professor Geoffrey Bownas, who founded the Department of Japanese at Oxford University, and Anthony Thwaite, who has lectured in Japan and all over the world.

You’ll find poems from the likes of Yamabe Akahito and Tanikawa Shuntarō as well as discovering a few new favourites.
