Handmade Premium Bamboo Whisk from Takayama, Japan
Each chasen is meticulously carved from a single piece of high-quality white Japanese bamboo, making every whisk unique and eco-friendly. The bamboo is air-dried, pesticide- and bleach-free, and crafted without glue, preserving its natural integrity. This whisk features the “Shin” style, with approximately 60 finely carved prongs made from black bamboo.
Our 'Sen' chasen, with their gracefully rounded tops and delicately curled tines, are designed to elevate your matcha experience. The thoughtfully crafted tines ensure a gentle, precise whisking motion, creating a smooth, even blend while enhancing the flavor and texture of your tea.
Select the chasen that suits your preferred matcha style—whether you desire a frothy, airy cup or a more robust, dense texture. The 'Sen' chasen excels at producing a creamy, frothy foam, making it perfect for those who enjoy a light, velvety bowl of matcha.
How to Make Perfect Matcha:
We recommend you use not quite boiling water, around 80°C works well.
If you are using a chashaku (a Japanese bamboo teaspoon) we recommend 2 scoops, or 1 scoop from an ordinary teaspoon (approx. 1.5g)
- Add 2 scoops of matcha powder to your tea bowl or cup.
- Pour around 70ml of not quite boiling water into the tea bowl.
- Whisk the matcha with the chasen in an 'M' shape for about 15 seconds until smooth and slightly foamy.
- Relax and enjoy!
To keep your chasen in the best condition, we recommend you soak the prongs in warm water before each use.
Rinse in hot water after use. You can also wash in soapy water every now and then.
Bamboo is a natural material and can split if it is dried out. Store in a cool place.
