Autumn Kuchikiri Shincha – First Opening Tea of the Season

Experience the depth of autumn with our limited-release “Aki no Kuchikiri Shincha”, a tea that marks the arrival of Japan’s rich, flavourful harvest season.

This exceptional tea originates from Yame, one of Japan’s most celebrated tea regions. In spring—between April and early May—the finest new tea leaves are carefully handpicked. Among these, only the most outstanding leaves, meticulously selected by master tea artisans, are chosen. Immediately after harvest, the leaves are vacuum-sealed and preserved at –30°C to lock in their vibrant freshness.

As autumn arrives, the tea is ceremoniously “kuchikiri”—the traditional opening of the first tea jars of the season. The result is a cup that harmonizes the fresh, invigorating aroma of new tea with the mellow sweetness and deep umami developed through careful maturation.

Crafted exclusively from premium Yame cultivars — Saemidori, Tsuyuhikari, Okuyutaka, and Okumidori — this tea embodies refinement, balance, and seasonal beauty.

Whether savored as a moment of quiet indulgence or shared as a thoughtful seasonal gift, Aki no Kuchikiri Shincha invites you to celebrate autumn through the essence of Japan’s finest tea craftsmanship.

Please note: All best-before dates are displayed in Japanese format (YY.MM.DD).
