The Philosophy of Tea

The Japanese Tea Ceremony has long been associated with the philosophy of Wabi Sabi, an appreciation of imperfection, simplicity and the natural world. In the tea room, all five senses come together through the touch of ceramics and bamboo utensils, the fragrance of tea and incense, the colours and decoration, the sound of the steaming iron pot, and the taste of sweets and matcha.

The ceremony offers a moment of quiet reflection and a deeper connection with nature, mindfulness and traditional Japanese culture.
