Kan Matsuzaki

Choseikyu Tea Bowl

Regular price £980.00
Taxes included.

Crafted by Kan Matsuzaki, this choseikyu tea bowl has its wide frame that makes it easy to hold and the texture highlights the earthy tones of the clay underneath. With the warped and fluid shape of the rim to show its quality made by hand, this tea bowl is a beautiful piece of art.

Choseikyu glaze is a thick, feldspar-based white glaze renowned for its soft, tactile surface and subtle, luminous quality. Under high firing, it develops gentle pooling and a fine, dimpled texture, tiny indentations that catch light and create a sense of depth. Often tinged with soft pink or beige hues, the glaze enhances the natural form of the clay beneath, highlighting its curves and imperfections in an elegant, understated way. Ideal for both functional and display pieces, choseikyu glaze transforms simple ceramics into refined, visually engaging objects.

Comes with its own wooden box signed by the artist

Kan is the son of the esteemed potter Ken Matsuzaki, a prominent figure in international ceramics, whose pieces are distinguished by their elaborate glaze applications and complex compositions, showcasing contemporary interpretations of classic forms.
