February is a dark and cold month, so my mind has turned to all those people enjoying time safe and warm at home in the evening. And that makes me think of our brand new Hojicha tea from Marukyu Koyamaen in Kyoto. As you might know, Hojicha is a roasted green tea, with only 4% caffein, so it’s very popular in Japan for drinking after supper, and for giving to children. It has a lovely gently roasted aroma and a comfy taste, much gentler than black tea or green tea. Hojicha also encourages the body to digest.
I recommend drinking loose leaf Hojicha without milk, to enjoy its best flavour. If you like to have it with milk, I’d recommend using the Hojicha powder to make a Hojicha latte. Hojicha latte is extremely popular and the hottest tea in New York right now! Our organic Hojicha powder is deep roasted, so is roughly similar to hot chocolate but without any sweetness. It’s a terrific alternative to a latte in the evenings.
