Dating back to the 16th century, it celebrates imperfections and is linked to the Japanese idea of \u003c\/span\u003e\u003cspan\u003eWabi Sabi, which finds beauty in mistakes and faults. \u003c\/span\u003e\u003cspan\u003e\u003c\/span\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp dir=\"ltr\"\u003e\u003cspan\u003eWe’re delighted to be hosting two special Kintsugi workshops on \u003c\/span\u003e\u003cspan\u003eThursday 18th June\u003c\/span\u003e\u003cspan\u003e at our Talbot Road shop, in collaboration with the Kintsugi master Nishikawa Iku.\u003c\/span\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp dir=\"ltr\"\u003e\u003cspan\u003eBorn in Kochi, Japan, Nishikawa Iku is a Kintsugi artist and educator. She developed her interest in Kintsugi while working with Kyoto lacquerware craftsmen Shimode Muneaki and Sato Takahiko during workshops at the Ashmolean and Pitt Rivers Museums in Oxford.\u003c\/span\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp dir=\"ltr\"\u003e\u003cspan\u003eThrough dedicated practice and training, she has focused on making Kintsugi more accessible outside Japan by not only using gold but other interesting materials as well.\u003c\/span\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp dir=\"ltr\"\u003e\u003cspan\u003eAs the founder of Kintsugi Oxford, she delivers workshops internationally across Japan, Italy and the UK. The brass finish gives an excellent shiny bright glint.
